Men's Soccer move to 5-0

The 4-0 Tiger Men's Soccer team faced off with the 6-1 Tritons of Iowa Central at 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Tritons 2-1 and move to 5-0 on the season. The match started and finished with physical play on both sides of the ball, as there were five total yellow cards. The Tigers spent a lot of time on defense as Iowa Central had eight shots on goal in each half while the Tigers managed five shots in each half. Kino Ryosuke scored at the ten-minute mark with an assist by Rafael Vacas putting the Tigers up 1-0. The Tigers maintained the lead at half and through the second half until play was stopped due to lightning. After play resumed the Tritons struck back when Joah Villanova found the net in the 73rd minute. With time winding down the Tigers patiently moved the ball down the pitch when Kino Ryosuke again found the net for the game winning goal.

 Ryosuke scored his eighth goal of the season and propelled the Tigers to a 5-0 start. Rafael Vacas has consistently given the Tiger scorers the ball in critical moments as he now has four assist on the season. Iowa Central spent a majority of the second half on the Tiger end of the pitch. Tiger goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez had an impressive day with nine saves and gave up one goal. Gonzalez currently has twenty-three saves on the year.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Scott Community College. Scott is currently 3-3-1 on the season. The game will be played at 4:00 PM.
