The MCC men's soccer team traveled to Council Bluffs Tuesday afternoon to take on the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College in the Region XI Semifinal. On a cold and windy day, the Tiger could not find the goal after surrendering an eleventh minute goal to the Reivers. Falling 1-0 in the match, the Tigers are now eliminated from the tournament and finished for the season.

"The boys battled hard today," stated Coach Chris Fuchsen after the game. "Unfortunately we came up short. We played with a lot of heart and determination but Western found a way to end our season again. It was a great season and we can build on our performance this year and get stronger."

The Tigers entered the season ranked tenth but slipped after a loss to Iowa Lakes Community College, after rallying off wins at the end of the season and an upset of Indian Hills Community College, the Tigers were back in the top ten to end the season. The Tigers have built a consistent winning program and are on the verge of taking the next step and that is partly due to the hard work of this year's sophomore class. Sophomores Juan Gonzalez, Andre Santos, Eneko Lasheras, David Kromah, Kino Ryosuke, Roger De la Villa, Jonathan Cantu, Bruno Osorio, and Jose Izarra have bought into the coaches and the style of play expected by the team.

Coach Fuchsen had great things to say about his outstanding sophomores stating, "We have a great group of sophomores that helped maintain a level of quality that we have built for MCC soccer and we wish them the best. They have served us well not just as a team but served the school and community well during their time in Marshalltown. Unfortunately we have to say farewell to this group of great young men."

The Tigers have nineteen freshman on the roster this year with many getting valuable playing time. With a long off-season and a new freshman recruiting class, the Tigers will be itching to get back on the field in 2018.
