Kino Ryosuke Signs with the University of Louisville

Marshalltown Community College's Kino Ryosuke has signed to play at the University of Louisville next year. The sophomore standout was a dominate force for the Tigers the last two years, recording a school record 41 goals in his career, 15 being game winners. The NJCAA Second Team All-American is excited about taking his talents to the University of Louisville stating, "It's very exciting to go and play at the University of Louisville, they play in the best conference in division I soccer and they have the best facilities and staff in the country. I really like coach Lolla and feel I will be a great fit with the team. I have had a great time while at MCC and I am truly grateful for everything Coach Rafa and Coach Chris have done for me. I have made amazing friends in Marshalltown and will always cherish my time here."

Coach Martinez was at the signing and was very proud of Ryosuke, stating, "The entire coaching staff is very happy that Kino has found a university that offers him the possibility to play at the highest college level in the country, while continuing to receive high quality education. This is a success story that highlights the support that so many people at MCC have provided to him, that combined with his effort and talent, have made it possible to achieve this goal. It is also an example of how Marshalltown Community College and its Athletic programs can change lives by providing opportunities. I am sure Kino will represent us well for many years to come."

The University of Louisville men's soccer program is under the direction of 12th year Head Coach Ken Lolla. Lolla has been a Head Coach for 28 years, compiling a 353-156-64 career record, while going 144-72-36 at Louisville. Since Lolla took over the program in 2006, the Cardinals have appeared in the Elite 8, eight times, has had two-quarter final births, and a National Runner Up. The 2017 team finished 13-2-5 and ranked seventh in the final United Soccer Coaches top 25.

Coach Lolla was excited about landing a top junior college prospect stating, "We are so excited to have Kino join our program and the Cardinal family. Kino is clearly one of the top players coming out of junior college and he will have an impact immediately."
