Eneko Lasheras Heads to Florida Southern

Marshalltown Community College Men's Soccer player, Eneko Lasheras, has decided to continue his athletic and academic career in Lakeland, Florida at Florida Southern College. Lasheras played in 36 games while starting in 32 as a Tiger. He spend his time controlling the middle of the field as a dominant mid fielder in the ICCAC recorded eleven assists, scored nine goal, two being game winners.

"Eneko has been a key member of this team, especially through his technical abilities, experience, and leadership to the group," stated Head Coach Rafael Martinez. "He has been one of the players most heavily recruited and I am very happy he found the right setting that met his priorities at Florida Southern."

Florida Southern is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, competing in Division II athletics. Lasheras will enter a department with a culture of winning, as Florida Southern is home to 30 national championships. Second year Head Coach Jason Carlson will look to get the soccer team back in national contention after going 7-7 last season while going 5-5 in the Sunshine State Conference. Carlson has Iowa roots, as he was the Head Soccer Coach at Upper Iowa University for four year prior to taking the Job at Florida Southern.

"I'm really excited about continuing my playing career and getting to go to a four year school where I can finish my degree," stated Lasheras. "I have had a lot of fun here at MCC and I want thank Coach Martinez for helping me through this long and difficult process."
