Aleix Viladot Gets His Call

Marshalltown, IA – The star-studded Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team gave up one of their best this week. Freshman Aleix Viladot has received his call to join the U21 Andorra National Team. Viladot will not only represent his country, but has also been named captain of the team.

"We are very proud of the fact that Aleix continues to be considered by the coaching staff of the U21 national team even though he is now competing in college thousands of miles away," stated Head Soccer Coach, Rafael Martinez. "It speaks volumes about the quality of his performance and leadership he bring with him to every team he is a member of.

A skillful defender for the Tigers, Viladot played in three games before getting the call late last week. Viladot received two starts so far and scored one goal in 4-0 victory over the Rams of Anoka Ramsey Community College. Although he will be missed, Coach Martinez says he will always work with his kids to make sure they get the chance to represent their country.

"We believe these experiences make them better as people and as athletes so we work with them so they don't lose opportunities to represent their countries in competition. We will be watching and cheering for Andorra."

Viladot is the second MCC soccer player to be called up to play for their National Team, sophomore, Joel Serrano, received his call last week. Both players are expected to miss several games.
