The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team continued their strong start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Metropolitan Community College on Friday afternoon. The Tigers dominated the match from start to finish, showcasing impressive possession and defensive solidity.
After a scoreless first half, the Tigers broke through in the 65th minute. Sophomore Guillerme Nakamura delivered a dangerous free kick into the box, and Joao Valmorbida was on hand to finish the chance. Just two minutes later, the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick, which sophomore Alejandro Vientimilla converted to extend the lead.
Freshman goalkeeper Joao Augusto recorded a clean sheet, preserving the shutout for the Tigers. The win improves MCC's record to 4-1-1. The team will look to keep their momentum going as they host Northwest Iowa Community College on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 pm.
