After picking up two wins against Ellsworth Community College on Monday, the MCC softball team (9-12, 4-4) finished the week 7-3.
The Tigers scored two victories over Simpson College on Tuesday 11-6 and 5-3.
In the opening game, the Tigers were led at the plate by sophomore Marisa Basham (Fort Madison, IA). Basham was a perfect four for four with three runs batted in.
In the closing game, freshman Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA) collected two RBIs on two hits to lead the Tigers offensively. Freshman Brianna James (Lynville, IA) collected the pitching win for MCC. James allowed two runs on four hits, struck out four and walked one batter.
The Tigers were unable to continue their winning streak on Wednesday dropping two games in ICCAC conference action to host NJCAA Division II 9th ranked Kirkwood Community College 10-0 and 5-0.
The Eagles received a no-hitter effort from freshman pitcher Amber Logemann in the first game and fellow freshman Sam Belz would keep the Tigers off the board in game two throwing her own no-hitter for the Eagles.
MCC would put themselves back in the win column on Friday, picking up two conference wins over Iowa Central Community College 10-2 and 12-0. The Tigers pounded 23 hits on the evening taking a 7-0 lead in the second frame of the first game, and a 6-0 lead in the first inning of the second game.
Freshman Taylor Vaske (Marshalltown, IA) just missed a no-hitter, allowing just one hit in the second game. Sophomore Stacy Roggentein (Marengo, IA) picked up the win in the first game, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out four.
The Tigers rounded out their weekend splitting a double header meeting with Southeastern Community College on Saturday. MCC dropped the first game 9-1, but came back in game two to score a 2-1 win behind the pitching of Roggentein.
Roggentein went the distance for the Tigers pitching nine innings allowing just one run on eight hits. Freshman Hailee Beals (Marshalltown, IA) brought in the winning run on a ground out in the 9th inning to give the Tigers the split.
MCC will return home on Wednesday, playing host to Southwestern Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
