Holli Baker earns ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors

Sophomore first baseman Holli Baker (Grimes, IA/Dallas Center-Grimes) of the Marshalltown Community College softball team has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Offensive Player of the Week. Baker batted .467 at the plate in a 5-3 week for the Tigers.

Baker went 14-30 over the eight game stretch and recorded five games of at least two hits. The sophomore scored 11 runs while driving in 11 more. Baker belted four home runs during the week to tie her with teammate Sarah Wilson (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) for a team-high seven round trippers on the year.

In an 11-6 win over Southwestern Community College, Baker went 4-5 at the dish with a home run and a double while driving in five runs to pace the MCC offense. In the team's next game against North Iowa Area Community College, Baker went 3-4 with two home runs, a double and three RBI in an 8-3 victory. Baker's final home run came in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 6-5 loss to Ellsworth Community College.

The Tigers take on Des Moines Area Community College today for a pair of ICCAC games at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
