Three shutouts land Wilson Pitcher of the Week honors

Sophomore pitcher Sarah Wilson (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week after posting a 4-0 week for the Marshalltown Community College softball team. The accolade is the second of the year for Wilson.

The Tigers posted a 5-1 week last week as Wilson appeared in all five of the wins, picking up four victries of her own to improve to 12-7 on the year. Wilson's biggest win of the week came on Wednesday as the Tigers defeated No. 15 Des Moines Area Community College 5-4. Wilson tossed a complete game, including a scoreless sixth and seventh innings to hold off the Bears for the upset.

On Friday, Wilson threw a complete game, seven inning shutout, her second of the season to give the Tigers a 6-0 win at home over Southeast Community College. In the win, Wilson recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts while allowing just one hit and one walk. The sophomore pitched three scoreless innings of relief in game two against Storm that saw the Tigers win 10-2.

Wilson bounced right back on Saturday to pitch back-to-back complete game shutouts against conference foe Iowa Lakes Community College. Wilson struck out 11 batters on the afternoon and allowed just three hits between the two games.

Wilson currently ranks third among all NJCAA Division II pitchers with 153 strikeouts. Over her last 23 innings, Wilson has not allowed a run, lowering her season earned run average to 2.47.

The Tigers take on Southwestern Community College for a doubleheader at home on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
