Mackenzie Gott named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week

Sophomore Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) of the Marshalltown Community College softball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 27.

Gott went 1-1 during the week, but allowed just two earned runs and scattered six hits during the stretch. In 14 innings of action, Gott struck out 21 batters.

Against No. 4 Kirkwood Community College, Gott kept the Tigers in contention all game long. The sophomore allowed the two earned runs in the complete game, but the upset bid fell short as the Eagles won 2-1. Gott struck out 10 Kirkwood Batters.

Gott tossed her second complete game of the week, this time a 5-0 shutout against Ellsworth Community College, the first of her career. Gott allowed two hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters.

As a team, the Tigers rank third nationally with 349 strikeouts.

MCC will head to the Region XI DII Softball Tournament on Friday as the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seed Ellsworth.
