Kansas City, MO—Freshman Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) connected on her first-career home run and drove in three runs, but the Marshalltown Community College softball team dropped two road games at MCC-Maple Woods, 8-2 and 9-1 on Friday afternoon.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the top of the fourth inning in game one, Ghee delivered a two-run home run, scoring Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County) to bring the Tigers within one. Wolfe, The Tigers' starting pitcher, held the Monarchs scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, but allowed three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth as Maple Woods pulled away for the win.

Wolfe finished the game 2-3 at the plate while making her first-career start in the circle.

Ghee provided the lone RBI in game two as the freshman drove in Wolfe again, this time with an RBI-single in the third inning, but the Monarchs held a 4-1 lead at the time and finished off the Tigers in five innings. Kayla Lopez (Tracy, CA/Merril F. West) hit a double for MCC in the fifth inning.

The Tigers head to Beatrice, NE for a doubleheader at Southeast Community College on Sunday afternoon.
