Softball drops a pair to Muscatine

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College softball team suffered two losses at home on Sunday afternoon, falling to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) oppoent Muscatine Community College 13-2 and 29-0.

The Cardinals took a commanding 11-0 lead through three at bats in the opening game until the Tigers got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third. Chezarae Garcia (Ogden, UT/Ogden) led off the frame with a single and came around to score on an RBI-double from Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County). Kortlan Ollinger (Robin, IA/Linn Mar) doubled to bring Wolfe around to round out the scoring for MCC.

Ollinger finished the opening game with two of the Tigers' five hits.

Sarah Ghee doubled in the first inning of game two, but the Tigers dug themselves into a 13-0 deficit after one inning. Kayla Lopez (Tracy, CA/Merrill F. West) and Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union both collected singles in the loss.

The Tigers host Indian Hills Community College in conference play on Monday in a makeup of Friday's postponed games. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
