Indian Hills takes two from Marshalltown

Marshalltown, IA—Freshman Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County) collected three hits on Monday afternoon but the Marshalltown Community College softball team fell twice to visiting Indian Hills Community College, dropping two Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) games 10-1 and 9-1.

Wolfe, the Tigers' starting pitcher in both games, sat the Warriors down in order in the first inning in game one. After a scoreless first from the Tigers, Indian Hills scored three runs in the second, three in the third, and four more in the fourth to take down MCC in five innings. Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) scored the lone Tiger run in the fifth inning on a two-out double from Wolfe.

After a run in the top of the first from the Warriors, MCC made things interesting with a score of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Wolfe led off with a double to left field. After Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) reached on an error, Wolfe and Ghee converted a double-steal that allowed Wolfe to score from third and tie the game at one.

Indian Hills answered with four runs in the second and held the Tigers scoreless the remainder of the game. Two runs in the fourth, followed by two in the sixth from the Warriors ended the game in six innings.

MCC travels to North Central Missouri College for a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM.
