Tiger bats fall quiet against Iowa Western

Council Bluffs, IA—The Marshalltown Community College softball team suffered a pair of setbacks on Monday afternoon, falling to the Iowa Western Community College Reivers 8-0 in both Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) games at the Reiver Sports Complex.

The Tigers managed just three baserunners in the opening game as the Reivers slowly piled on the runs. Iowa Western (37-15, 9-3) scored at least one run in each of the first four innings, including a three-spot in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, the Reivers produced a solo home run to end the game in six innings.

The Reivers retired the first seven batters to start game two before Kaycee Ray (Clinton, UT/Clearfield) and Kortlan Ollinger (Robins, IA/Linn Mar) each collected singles in the top of the third. The two runners were left stranded and MCC managed to put just one more runner on base the remainder of the game as the Reivers swept the regular season series.

Cass Vasquez (Los Angeles, CA/Oscar De La Hoya) took the loss in the circle in game one and Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County) was tagged with the defeat in game two.

After a three-day road trip that consisted of six games and almost 800 miles of travel, the Tigers return home for a nonconference doubleheader against North Iowa Area Community College at 3:00 PM on Tuesday afternoon.
