2016 Marshalltown Community College Softball Schedule

The Marshalltown Community College Softball team has announced its upcoming schedule for the 2016 season. The 52-game slate includes 22 home games and a 12-game trip to Clermont, FL.

The Tigers, under the direction of newly-appointed head coach Garland Shirley, open the season at the Early Bird Tournament at the RCTC Dome in Rochester, MN on Feb. 26. MCC will take on the College of Lake County and Rochester Community and Technical College.

Next up for the Tigers is a seven-day stretch in the Sunshine State where MCC will play at the Legends Way Ballfields on the campus of Lake Sumter State College. The Tigers first contest is against Glen Oaks Community College (MI) at 8:00 AM on March 11. MCC will play two games a day from Mach 11-17, with the exception of an off-day on March 15.

After the conclusion of the spring trip, MCC returns home for its first doubleheader of the year at the MCC Softball Complex against Ellsworth Community College on March 22. The doubleheader marks a nine-game home stand for MCC.

Following a single contest at home against Simpson JV on March 23, the Tigers open up Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play at home against Iowa Western Community College. The Tigers host the Reivers for a doubleheader on March 25, followed by a conference doubleheader against Indian Hills Community College on March 26. The home stretch concludes with a twin bill against MCC-Maple Woods on March 29.

Following alternating home and away series in the opening portion of April, the Tigers travel to Muscatine Community College for a conference series on April 9, the beginning of an eight-game road stretch.

Eight of the team's final 12 games are at home, including the regular season finale doubleheader against Iowa Lakes Community College on April 26.

This year's Region XI Tournament will begin on April 29.
