Clermont, FL—Annalee Myers (Ames, IA/Ames) delivered a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Marshalltown Community College softball team to an 8-7 win over Messiah JV. The win marks the fifth in a row for the Tigers.

MCC built a 7-1 lead over Messiah through five innings, but the Falcons battled back to tie the game in the seventh inning. The Tigers came to bat in the bottom half and loaded the bases for Myers who connected on her fourth hit of the game to seal the win.

Myers finished 4-5 at the plate with a pair of RBI. Shaena Robinson (Gardnerville, NV/Douglas) collected her fourth-straight multi-hit game after going 2-4, including her fourth home run of the season, with three RBI.

Sophomore Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) got the start in the circle for the Tigers and tossed a scoreless first inning. Messiah got on the board first with a run in the second inning and held the lead until MCC plated five runs in the third inning. Myers and Lexie Valentine (Des Moines, IA/Saydel) each provided an RBI-double and Olivia Hubert (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo East) added a run-scoring single.

MCC tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning after Robinson's home run scored Courtney Fudge (Pleasant Hill, IA/Des Moines East).

The 7-1 lead was secure until Messiah plated two runs in the sixth and four more in the top of the seventh to even the game. Fudge opened up the seventh with a leadoff single. Following an error, Tess Cheetham (Oceanside, CA/Oceanside) extended her hitting streak to five games with a single to set the stage for Myers' heroics.

Carter finished the game with five innings of work and struck out a pair of batters, allowing just one earned run.

After six games in three days, the Tigers will welcome an off day on Monday before returning to action in Clermont for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
