For the second time this season, freshman Shaena Robinson (Gardnerville, NV/Douglas) of the Marshalltown Community College softball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Player of the Week.

Robinson helped guide the Tigers to a 4-0 week last week by batting .500 at the plate. The freshman belted a pair of home runs to go along with seven RBI and scored nine runs. For the season, Robinson has collected at least one hit in all 16 games this year, including 11 multi-hit games.

Robinson ranks among the elite hitters in the NJCAA through the opening month of play. As of Tuesday afternoon, the freshman leads the country with a .593 batting average and a 1.296 slugging percentage and ranks third with a .645 on base percentage. Robinson also leads the ICCAC in home runs, RBI, and extra base hits.

In a doubleheader sweep of Ellsworth Community College on Monday, Robinson collected a pair of hits, including a two-run home run in the Tigers' home opener.

MCC added two more wins against North Iowa Area Community College where Robinson went 2-3 with a home run and four RBI in game one before adding a pair of doubles and four runs scored in a 16-8 game two win.

Robinson also earned player of the week honors from the ICCAC on March 14.

After a pair of cancellations to start this week, the Tigers are back in action on April 2 at Grinnell College.
