Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College softball team fell twice at home to Indian Hills Community College on Sunday afternoon. MCC was blanked 5-0 in game one and fell late in game two, 8-5.

MCC managed just two hits in game one, a pair of singles from Courtney Fudge (Pleasant Hill, IA/Des Moines East) and Lexie Valentine (Des Moines, IA/Saydel). Sophomore Paige Taylor (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Terry Fox) scattered six hits as the Warriors scored in just two innings, but were enough for the game one win.

Fudge and Valentine upped their performance in game two, combining for five hits. Valentine provided the game's first run after singling in the second and came around on an RBI-double from Lexie Larson (Des Moines, Hoover). The Warriors posted two runs in the third, but a big third inning regained the lead for the Tigers. Annalee Myers (Ames, IA/Ames) drove in a pair of runs in the three-run frame.

The 4-2 lead was not enough as Indian Hills plated six runs in the top of the fourth. Freshman Shaena Robinson (Gardnerville, NV/Douglas) connected on a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Tigers rally ended there.

After playing eight games in five days, the Tigers welcome a two-day break before embarking on a three-day, six-game nonconference road trip against Mount Mercy University JV, Central Community College, and Concordia University JV.
