Softball falls twice on the road to Indian Hills

Ottumwa, IA – The Marshalltown Community College softball team dropped both of its Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) contests to Indian Hills Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers fell 8-2 in game one and 12-2 in the nightcap.

Sophomore Lexie Valentine (Des Moines, IA/Saydel) gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the second inning with her third home run of the season. The Warriors used a six-run fifth inning to jump ahead and held off the Tigers the rest of the way. Sophomore Josie Carpenter (Wapello, IA/Wapello) added a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Indian Hills outlasted the Tigers in game two to complete the regular season series sweep. Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) connected on a solo home run in the loss.

MCC hosts Iowa Western Community College for an ICCAC doubleheader at 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. Eight sophomores will be honored between games as the Tigers play their final regular season home games.
