The Marshalltown Community College softball team has added another talent for the 2018 season, inking Katelyn "Rosie" Cantu to a National Letter of Intent. Cantu is a native of Twin Falls, ID.

A veteran on the diamond for the Canyon Ridge High School Softball team, Cantu has helped the Riverhawks reach their fifth consecutive state tournament in 2017. Cantu provides the Tigers with a wide variety of skills, both in the circle and at the plate. The right-handed hurler was named to the Great Basin All-Conference First-Team last season as the Riverhawks finished second in the state.

"Katelyn comes to us with a strong history of success on the softball field," stated MCC head coach Garland Shirley. "When she visited, we spoke at length about what it would take to make our program the best it could be. In those conversations, you could see her passion and excitement about being a part of that process with us. She is someone who has played at an extremely high level and wants to elevate the play of everyone around her."

"In addition to being a strong and successful pitcher, she is a multidimensional player who can fill an important defensive role for us when she is not in the circle."

Cantu becomes the 10th signee to ink with the Tigers for next season.
