Robinson named NFCA NJCAA D1 All-Region Midwest

Freshman softball player Shaena Robinson (Gardnerville, NV / Douglas) has earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Junior College Division 1 All-Midwest Region Honors. Robinson led the Tigers to a 23-19 finish on the 2017 season.

Robinson who also was named 1st Team Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) All-Region and ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year, led the Tigers in most offensive categories with most notably a .493 batting average, .551 on base percentage, and .971 slugging percentage. She also lead the way in hits runs (51), hits (68) and runs batted in (49). She hit a total of 16 home runs which not only led her team but also the ICCAC. Her batting average also was top for the conference and landed her in the 18th spot nationally.  

"I am really excited to see Shaena receive the post season honors she has earned," MCC Head Coach Garland Shirley stated. "When a player like her arrives and works as hard as she has to be successful, it is good to see it pay off. She does all the right things on the field and in the classroom and we hope her example sets a standard for our program that everyone strives for."
