Taylor Hipsley Signs With MCC Softball

The Marshalltown Community College softball team has signed a 2019 recruit in Earlham High School's Taylor Hipsley. Hipsley is a four-sport athlete for the Cardinals, participating in basketball, track, softball, and volleyball. She has seen success in softball, playing predominantly at first base, earning All-Tournament Team recognition in 2014 when the Cardinals captured the Iowa Class 2A State Championship.

Head Softball Coach Garland Shirley had high praise for the newest member of the Tiger family stating, "I had the opportunity to work with Taylor at a clinic as well as followed her high school games.  She is an all-around athlete with power who comes ready to compete at her highest level every game.  I have great respect for her high school program as they have a strong history producing State Tournament caliber teams under Coach Caskey. We know she is a tremendous first baseman and can play both corners but she was also a State Championship All-Tournament team Outfielder.  She will make an immediate impact."

Hipsley had a solid junior season for the Cardinals at first base but also impressed at the plate, recording a .432 batting average and a .748 slugging percentage. With her 111 at bats, the junior recorded 48 hits, 41 RBIs, and hit eight homeruns. Hipsley will look to turn heads this summer in her senior campaign.

The MCC softball team will be in action this week, as they travel to Council Bluffs Saturday, March 3 to take on the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College. The non-conference doubleheader with start at 1:00 pm with game two set for 3:00 pm. Both games will be streamed live on www.goreivers.com with links posted on the Tiger Live Stream tab on www.mccathletics.com.
