Shaena Robinson Named ICCAC Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Association has named Marshalltown Community College's Shaena Robinson as Division I Softball Player of the Week. Robinson, a returning Second Team All-American, dominated at the plate last week in Clermont, Florida, going 15-30 and recording seven homeruns. Playing in the two or three hole for the Tigers, Robinson was responsible for 22 runs batted in and holds a 1.163 slugging percentage.

"Shaena has provided a lot of leadership for us and her play in Florida is a perfect example of that," stated Head Coach Garland Shirley. "As we were trying out different lineup combinations, she provided consistent explosive offensive and solid defensive plays as. Outside of the numbers everyone sees, she is an absolute professional in her approach to the game. I expect her to continue her offensive and defensive production."

Robinson and the rest of the Marshalltown Community College softball team will be back in action on Thursday, March 22 when they take on North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). The two game home opener against NIACC is set to begin at 1:00 PM. The Tigers will play again at home on Friday, taking on Ellsworth Community College at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
