Tigers Add Two Wins on Road Trip

The MCC softball team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa Wednesday afternoon to take on the Pride of Clarke University. After a week of bad weather, the Tigers were able to hit the field and the rest payed off, taking both games against the Pride JV. Both contest were high scoring as the Tigers scored 37 runs on the day, defeating the Pride 12-4 in game one and 25-16 in game two.

The Tigers were down 2-1 after the first inning of game one before taking off in the second inning. The Tigers scored three runs in the second and scored another in the third. The Tigers would not back off in the final innings, adding seven more runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Freshman Chasity Jordan was the star of game one, finishing with four RBIs and two homeruns. Shaena Robinson added another homerun to her resume, and was a perfect 4-4 at the plate. Olivia Hubert was 2-4 from the plate and added another four RBIs.

Game two started like game one ended, with the bats making noise. The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and two more in the second before the Pride got on the board. While the Pride scored four runs in third inning, the Tigers responded with seven runs. The Pride made a deep run in the fifth inning, scoring eleven runs but the Tigers shut the door on game two scoring six runs. Every Tiger in the lineup recorded a hit in game two with four players clearing the bases with homeruns.

The Tigers will look to replicate their recent success next week when they travel to West Burlington, Iowa Wednesday, April 4 to take on Southeastern Community College. The 12-17 Blackhawks have struggled in March, dropping twelve games and have currently lost three straight.
