The Tiger softball team traveled to Ottumwa, Iowa on Saturday afternoon to take on the Warriors of Indian Hills Community College in an ICCAC doubleheader. The Warriors have put together a solid season, entering Saturday's contest 39-8 and 15-2 at home. The Tigers lost both games to the Warriors back on Friday, April 13 and again dropped both games on Saturday afternoon.

Game One: Lost 6-2

The Tigers had a hard time making contact at the plate all day, only recording four hits in game one. Sophomore pitcher, Taylor Tague provided the lone highlight of game one, hitting a 2-run home run in the fourth inning for the only scores of the game for the Tigers. At that point, the Tigers trailed 5-0 after giving up two runs in the opening inning and three runs in the third. Tague pitched all of game one, facing 25 batters while giving up 12 hits and 5 earned runs.

Game Two: Lost 13-0

The Tiger offense stalled in game two as the lack of noise at the plate continued while the Warriors added runs early and often. The warriors tallied three runs in the first inning and responded with five run second.  Unable to make any significant gains at the plate, the Tigers remained scoreless through the third when the Warriors added four runs to take a 12-0 lead. The Warriors added a single run in the fourth to cape off the 13-0 victory. Freshman Katelyn Cantu was in the circle for the Tigers, pitching four innings and facing 30 batters.

The Tigers will be home on Sunday, April 22 for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, taking on the Blackhawks of Southeastern Community College. The Blackhawks come to Marshalltown with a 16-25 record and are 2-8 in the ICCAC. The Tigers previously split with the Blackhawks back on April 5, losing game one 6-2 then winning 5-3 in game two. Sunday's doubleheader is set to begin at 2:00 PM.
