Robinson Earns NFCA 1st Team All Region Midwest Honors

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced 102 student-athletes representing 41 programs received 2018 NFCA NJCAA DI All-Region accolades. These awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's three regions with first- and second-team recognitions. NFCA member coaches from each region voted on the teams, and all honorees are now eligible for the 2018 NFCA NJCAA Division I All-American squads. Among those selected for the NFCA 1st Team All-Region Midwest was Marshalltown Community College's Shaena Robinson.

This is the second year in a row the standout outfielder has been named NFCA 1st Team All-Region. As a freshman, Robinson was named 1st Team Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) All-Region and ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year, and an NJCAA 2nd Team All-American. Her sophomore season was just as impressive, earning 1st Team All-Region honors and ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the team in hits (50), runs batted in (41), and homes runs (16).

"Shaena being selected to the DI NFCA NJCAA First Team All-Region list is an incredible accomplishment," stated Head Coach Garland Shirley. "It goes without saying that conference awards are hard earned, but being recognized nationally among the best players in the country is remarkable.  It speaks to her ability to consistently compete at a high level.  I am very proud of everything she has been able to do."
