Marshalltown, IA - The Marshalltown Community College softball program signed a 2018-19 recruit over the weekend in Newton High School's Mackenzie Johnson. While at Newton High School Johnson participated in volleyball and softball where she earned four varsity letters as the Cardinals 2nd baseman. The two-sport athlete was also involved with Newton High School FFA, earning gold in the state's ETA competition.
"Mackenzie will be a nice addition to our recruiting class as a middle infielder/outfielder," stated Head Coach Garland Shirley. "She comes with lots of experience in the infield and should add some solid defense to our right side."
While attending MCC, Johnson will enter the Nursing program. When asked what her plans are after she graduates, Johnson stated, "I want to work at a hospital and help as many people as I can."
Johnson is the daughter of Angela and Scott Johnson and older sister to Mackayla Johnson (14).
