Tigers Struggle on the Road

Tigers Struggle on the Road

The Tiger softball team didn't have a good day at Southeastern Community College on April 7. The Tigers struggled both from the plate and on the rubber as they dropped a pair of games to the Blackhawks of Southeastern.

Game 1

Game one featured a matchup of Ashley Rosado and McKaylee Dawson pitching for their respective teams.

In the top of the first, the Tigers got to Rosado right away. Saydee Terrell and Dawson, the first two Tiger batters, each doubled. The double from Dawson drove Terrell in and put the Tigers on the board first.

However, following the two doubles to open the game, Rosado would only surrender three more hits on the day, all singles, and didn't allow the Tigers to score another run.

The Blackhawks on the other hand, scored two runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, and closed the game out in the fifth when Chayse Lowney hit a grand slam with nobody out to end the game 10-1.

Game 2

Things got even worse for the Tigers in the second game of the day.

Offensively, the Tigers managed just two singles and had a third runner reach base via walk.

The Blackhawks continued to hit the ball in game two and the Tiger defense exacerbated the problem. The Blackhawks put eight runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. They home team went on to score 14 runs in 4 trips to the plate. The 14 runs came on just 9 hits as the Tigers committed four errors in the field and walked five batters.

It wasn't a good day for the Tigers, but they will look to use it as a learning opportunity as they continue their busy schedule throughout April.
