Women's basketball sweeps weekly ICCAC awards

Jasmine Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) and Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) of the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team both recorded double-doubles in a season-opening 74-57 victory over MCC-Penn Valley on Saturday. For their efforts, each player was recognized by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) as Howe earned Offensive Player of the Week honors while Gott was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.

In her first career collegiate game, Howe recorded 23 points to go along with 11 rebounds, both game-highs. The freshman scored the team's first eight points of the game. Howe finished the first half with 14 points while connecting on three three-point shots. The freshman finished the game with four shots from beyond the arc. How also added four assists and three steals on the defensive end.

Gott provided a presence down low for the Tigers, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with 11 points in just 14 second half minutes. Gott, MCC's leading rebounder from a year ago, contributed four boards on the offensive end.

The Tigers return to action with a 7:00 PM home game on Nov. 7 against Grand View JV.
