NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Poll

After a demanding road schedule that resulted in a 9-1 record to start the 2013-14 season, the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team has been rewarded with an appearance in this week's NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Poll. The Tigers received votes after taking two victories at the North Central Missouri College Tournament over the weekend.

The Tigers have won seven consecutive games, including the last four on the road. MCC swept back-to-back weekends in Kansas City with two wins at the MCC-Penn Valley Classic and the two wins at the NCMC Tournament. During the team's winning streak, the Tigers have won by an average of 18 points per game, scoring 79 points per contest.

MCC has been paced by three players scoring in double-figures.  Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) leads the way with 15.6 while Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) is averaging a double-double with 14.8 points and 10.1 rebounds. Kaleigh Sieck (Toledo, IA/South Tama) is averaging 10.3 points per game on the year, but over her last three contests has averaged 18.7.

The Tigers are one of five Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) members to appear in this week's poll, headlined by Kirkwood Community College and North Iowa Area Community College, ranked first and second, respectively. Iowa Central came in at No. 14 this week while Des Moines Area Community College joined MCC in the receiving votes category.

Conference play kicks off tonight for the Tigers as MCC hosts Ellsworth Community College (5-7) at 5:00 PM as part of a doubleheader with men's team who also hosts Ellsworth at 7:00 PM in the Student Activity Center.
