Williams-Perry named ICCAC Player of the Week

Freshman Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) of the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Week after a career-night against No. 1 North Iowa Area Community College on Saturday.

Taking on the top ranked Trojans, Williams-Perry provided an all-around effort for the Tigers in hopes of an upset bid. The forward scored 11 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, both personal bests. The 19 rebounds are the most for a Tiger this year.

Williams-Perry grabbed 12 first half rebounds and finished the game with eight offensive boards. The 19 rebounds are two more than her previous career-high of 17 set against Ellsworth on Dec. 11. Williams-Perry is averaging 8.2 rebounds per game, but has provided a spark in conference games where the freshman is averaging 12.0 per contest.

Williams-Perry connected on 4-6 from the floor against the Trojans and also shot 3-4 from the free throw line to boost her season average to 75.0.

The rookie joins Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa), Jamerka Martin (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) and Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) as MCC players to earn weekly ICCAC awards this season.

The Tigers travel to No. 2 Kirkwood Community College for an ICCAC battle at 5:30 PM on Wednesday night.
