Tigers dominate Southwestern, move into fourth place in ICCAC
Creston, IA—Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) led four scorers in double-figures with a game-high 24 points to carry the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team to a 84-54 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) victory. The Tigers move into sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings at 5-3, jumping ahead of Des Moines Area Community College.

Howe and Ashley Salgado (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) led the offensive onslaught through the first half as the two combined to score 27 of the team's 41 first half points. Howe knocked down two three-point shots in the first frame while Salgado contributed one long ball and went 4-4 from the free throw line.

Salgado finished the day with 17 points to reach a season-high. The sophomore also dished out four assists to go with five steals and three rebounds. Salgado knocked down all six of her free throw attempts on the night.

Jamerka Martin (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) hit four three-point shots and sank all four of her free throw attempts to finish the afternoon with 16 points, reaching double-figures for the seventh straight game. Ilsie Calles (Van Nuys, CA/Fulton Prep) chipped in 10 points with seven coming in the second half.

As a team, the Tigers knocked down 10 three-point shots on the night, the most for MCC since Jan. 11. The 84 points are also the most for MCC since the Tigers scored a 87-65 victory over NCMC on Dec. 11.

The Tigers will host a double-header with the men's team on Wednesday night as both sides host Iowa Western Community College. The women's team will tip off at 5:00 PM.
