NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Poll

The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team received votes for the third straight week in this week's NJCAA Division II women's basketball poll thanks to an upset over then-No. 6 Iowa Central. The Tigers are currently 16-7 overall and 7-4 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play.

The Tigers snapped a six-game losing streak to the Tritons with a 72-70 victory at the Student Activity Center. The win was the first over Iowa Central since Jan. 29, 2011, also a two-point victory. MCC rebounded from a 43-point loss to Iowa Central earlier this year. Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) poured in a career-high 32 points on 11-17 shooting.

MCC dropped its only other game of the week to No. 1 North Iowa Area Community College 92-68 on Saturday.

NIACC continued to sit atop the Division II poll with a 22-2 record and a perfect 11-0 mark in the league play. Following the win over Iowa Central, the Tritons dropped to No. 13 in the rankings while fellow ICCAC member Kirkwood Community College came in at No. 15.

MCC and Kirkwood will square off at 5:00 PM on Wednesday night at the Student Activity Center. Both MCC and the Eagles are 7-4 in the ICCAC with Kirkwood holding the third-place tiebreaker.
