Howe drains eight threes as MCC halts four-game skid

Des Moines, IA—Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) knocked down a career-high eight three-point shots to help the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team snap a four-game losing streak in a 73-58 win over Grand View JV on Monday night.

Howe exploded for 26 points on the night after going 8-9 from beyond the arc. Howe has reached at least 20 points in six games this season and his hit at least four three-point shots on seven occasions. Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) scored 18 points in the paint for the Tigers and grabbed nine rebounds. Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) pulled down a team-best 10 boards.

Howe helped the Tigers get out to an early lead with three three-point shots in the first half as MCC held a comfortable halftime lead. The freshman caught fire in the second half for five three-point shots to end the Tigers' skid. All eight threes from Howe came consecutively. 

Ashley Salgado (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) scored six points to go along with eight assists and six rebounds to balance the MCC attack.

The Tigers return to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play with a trip to Southeastern Community College at 6:00 PM on Wednesday. MCC is currently in fifth-place with a 7-7 league mark while Southeastern sits in seventh at 3-11.
