Tigers to take on DMACC in Region XI Tournament

ICCAC Division II Region XI Tournament

The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team will hit the road to take on Des Moines Area Community College in the opening round of the Region XI Division II Women's Basketball Tournament at 5:30 PM on Tuesday night in Boone, IA. The Tigers (18-11/8-8) enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed while the Bears (18-12/10-6) earned the No. 4 seed.

The teams split their two regular season meetings with both teams winning on their home court. MCC held off the Bears for a 68-67 victory on Jan. 11 at the Student Activity Center. Three players went for double-figures, including Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) with a team-high 16 points. DMACC responded with a 63-47 victory on their home floor on Feb. 15.

Howe leads the Tigers in scoring with 14.9 points per contest, sixth in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) while Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) ranks 10th in the league with 13.8 points per game. Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) ranks second in the league with 10.0 rebounds per contest while Gott ranks third with 8.6 boards.

The Bears are led by Carlee Schumacher, who leads the conference and ranks second nationally with 23.8 points per game. The sophomore forward also leads the league with 13.4 rebounds per game.

North Iowa Area Community College earned the top overall seed after posting a perfect 16-0 record in league play and will host the No. 8 seed Ellsworth Community College. The winner of MCC and DMACC will take on the winner of NIACC and Ellsworth at 6:00 PM on March 7 in Fort Dodge, IA.
