Howe, Sproul light up Highland to lead MCC to 89-56 win

Freeport, IL— Sophomore Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) and freshman Sammie Sproul (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) lit up the scoreboard on Monday night, combining for 45 points to lead the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team to a 89-56 win at Highland Community College. The Tigers improve to 8-5 on the year.

Sproul and Howe connected on a total of 10 three-point shots on the night to pace the explosive Tiger offense. Howe finished with seven triples on the night while Sproul hit three treys of her own. Howe finished with a season-high 27 points and Sproul contributed a personal-best 18 points.

The Tigers torched the Cougars early on as Howe scored the first 13 points of the game for MCC. The guard combo of Howe and Sproul buried long-range shots one after the other as the Tigers took command of a double-digit lead.

MCC led 48-23 at halftime as Howe and Sproul contributed 32 points through the first 20 minutes of action. The Tigers had no trouble finishing off the Cougars to pick up their second win of the season over Highland. MCC defeated the Cougars 92-59 on Nov. 21 at home.

Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) added 13 points for the Tigers.

The Tigers travel to Iowa Lakes Community College for a doubleheader with the men's team on Wednesday night. The women tip-off at 5:30 PM while the men take on the Lakers at 7:30 PM.
