Tigers fall at DMACC 72-71

Boone, IA—The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team opened up the second half of the 2014-15 season with a tough one-point loss to the Des Moines Area Community College Bears, falling 72-71 on Saturday afternoon. Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) went for a season-high 29 points in the loss.

Howe, known for her three-point shooting ability, did a majority of her damage inside the arc on Saturday, knocking down 10 two-point shots while hitting two three-point shots on the day. The sophomore finished 12-19 from the field, including 2-4 from long-range.

Jamerka Martin (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) went for 18 points while Sammie Sproul (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) knocked down three three-point shots to finish with 13 points. As a team, the Tigers hit seven three-point shots on the day.

Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) led the Tigers on the defensive end, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with three steals and one block. Jaden Davenport (Tama, IA/Meskwaki) grabbed nine rebounds.

The Tigers return to the Student Activity Center for a four-game home stand, starting with a nonconference matchup against Kirkwood Community College at 5:30 PM on Jan. 7.
