Women's basketball to host Play 4 Kay Night Feb. 11

The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team will host Play 4 Kay night on Wednesday, February 11 against John Wood Community College at the Student Activity Center to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.

During the week leading up to the game, players will be selling logo socks for $10 each in the MCC Student Union as well as during the game. All proceeds from the socks, along with a all ticket sales from the game will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Kay Yow, the former North Carolina State Wolfpack women's basketball head coach and member of the Naismith Hall of Fame passed away from breast cancer on January 24, 2009. Since its' inception, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has generated $3.93 million dollars that has been allocated to women's cancer research.

MCC head coach Steve Garber expressed his support for breast cancer awareness. "Most everyone has been affected or knows someone who has been affected by cancer, and to help continue the awareness, research, eradication, and future diagnosis of this disease, we come together to share in the efforts of helping our families, friends, and those we know within our communities."

"Thank you for your assistance in helping the women's basketball program be a leader in the fight against cancer during this month of February."

All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause. General admission tickets are $6.00. MCC staff, students, and children 12 and under receive free admission.
