Northwest Missouri State right fit for Jasmin Howe

Sophomore Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) has signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats. Howe was a two-year member of the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team.

"When I visited the campus," said Howe on her decision to attend Northwest, "the atmosphere just felt right. It was a comfortable fit for me. They have great facilities, a friendly group of girls, and the coaching staff was great."

"I got to meet the team and even though it was the first time meeting all the players, it just seemed right. It's a good school. I'm really excited to get down there."

Howe proved to be a consistent scoring threat throughout her career as a Tiger, scoring 975 career points, including 518 during her sophomore season. Howe capped off her stellar career at MCC leading the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in scoring (16.7 ppg), free throw percentage (87.9 percent), three-point percentage (39.9 percent), and field goal percentage (47.9 percent).

"Coming from halfway across the world, you're not sure what to expect," Howe exclaimed regarding her move from Australia to the midwest. "But I got lucky coming to Marshalltown. It gave me a small community feel and it was a great place to adjust to the way of life in America."

"It was easy to get along with everyone on campus, especially my teammates. Each season we had a great team with no confrontations. We had winning records each season in a very tough conference. Coach Garber gave me the freedom to become a better player. He's a great fundamental coach."

For her efforts, Howe was named to the NJCAA Division I All-Region XI First-Team following the 2014-15 season after receiving NJCAA Division II All-Region XI Second-Team honors as a freshman. Howe posted 51 career-games of at least 10 points and 17 games with at least 20 points. She was a two-time ICCAC Player of the Week as a sophomore.

"I know I can come in and make an impact next season. The coaching staff runs a style that fits the way I play, so I'm really looking forward to it."
