Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team dropped a 79-49 contest to the Mineral Area College Cardinals on the final day of the 2015 Emerson Classic at the Student Activity Center. Cassie Cullen (Ankeny, IA/Lynnville-Sully) scored a career-high 15 points for the Tigers.

MCC hung with the Cardinals through the opening minutes of the first quarter as Barbara Araoz's (Neuquen, Argentina/Maria Auxiliadota) three-point shot tied the game at nine with 5:31 remaining. Mineral Area took over from that point on, going on a 30-7 run to close out the first half.

The Cardinals maintained its lead the rest of the way, but the Tigers put up a fight in the fourth quarter, outscoring Mineral Area 21-15 in the final frame.

Cullen connected on four of seven shots from the field and went 7-9 at the free throw line to reach her personal-best scoring total of the season. Joining Cullen in double-figures was JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) with 14 and Araoz with 11.
