Women's basketball suffers 65-51 loss at Iowa Central

Fort Dodge, IA—Despite a strong second half, the Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team suffered a 65-51 loss at Iowa Central Community College on Saturday afternoon. JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) and Accacia Huff (Peoria, IL/Central) combined for 42 of the team's points in the loss.

After falling behind by 10 points at halftime, the Tigers used an early 7-0 run in the second half to keep the contest close, but the Tritons outscored MCC 21-13 in the third frame to pull away. The Tigers outscored Iowa Central 15-11 in the final quarter, but was not enough in the end as MCC dropped to 4-10 on the year.

Hiraldo finished the day 10-16 from the floor, including 3-5 from three-point range for her seventh 20-point game of the season. Huff connected on 7-11 shots to score a career-high 17 points for the Tigers. Huff also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds

Barbara Araoz (Neuquen, Argentina/Maria Auxiliadota) scored five points along with five steals and Cassie Cullen (Ankeny, IA/Lynnville-Sully) added four points and five rebounds for the Tigers.

MCC returns home to take on Southeastern Community College at 6:00 PM on Monday night.
