Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team fell short in the first game of the second semester, dropping Tuesday's contest to Des Moines Area Community College 64-30. JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bears opened up the game with a 15-5 lead in the first quarter and held the Tigers to just two points in the second quarter as DMACC led 37-7 at the break. MCC found life in the second half, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
The double-double is the seventh of the year for Hiraldo who leads the Tigers with 17.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Accacia Huff (Peoria, IL/Central) pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds to go along with nine points. Shyannon Wolf (Tama, IA/Meskwaki) added a pair of three-pointers in the loss.
MCC returns to action at John Wood Community College at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
