Women's basketball falls at home to Central JV

Marshalltown, IA—Sophomore JeAnn Hiraldo's (Ames, IA/Ames) ninth double-double of the season and a career-high 14 rebounds from freshman Victoria Pothast (Melbourne, IA/West Marshall) were not enough on Monday night as the Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team fell at home to Central JV 50-39.

Hiraldo scored 19 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and pulled down 13 rebounds to pace the Tigers. Pothast's personal-best rebounding effort was paired with six points on the night. Shyanon Wolf (Tama, IA/Meskwaki) and Barbara Araoz (Nequen, Argentina/Maria Auxiliadota) each connected on a pair of three-point shots to finish the night with six points. Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) came off of the bench to score two points while grabbing eight rebounds.

The Dutch doubled up the Tigers in the first half with a 30-15 lead at halftime. MCC made a valiant effort in the fourth quarter, outscoring the opposition 19-12, but could not overcome the early deficit.

Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Norfolk, NE to take on Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opponent Northeast Community College at 5:00 PM on Saturday.
