Former Tiger heads north, to play at Algoma University

Former Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball player Jamerka Martin has signed to play at Algoma University, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

The Thunderbirds are a member of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) conferences. The team has been coached by Ryan Vetrie for the past six seasons.

Martin was a two-year member of the Tigers from 2013-2015, averaging 10.5 points per game while appearing in a total of 60 games with 43 starts. Martin connected on 125 total three-point in her career at MCC while helping the Tigers to 35 wins in two seasons.

"I am beyond excited to accept an amazing opportunity to play in Canada," Martin stated. "I want to thank Marshalltown Community College and its entire athletic program for getting me started in my college career. I'd especially like to thank coach (Steve) Garber for pushing me and teaching me even more during my years at Marshalltown."
