MCC outmatched on final night of Emerson Classic vs. KCKCC

Marshalltown, IA – The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team dropped its final contest of the 2016 Emerson Classic on Saturday night, falling at home to Kansas City Kansas Community College 90-59.

Three different Tigers- Estelle Eduardo (Villeurbanne, France/Lycee Ernest Couteaux), Sarah Kavanh (Marengo, IA/Iowa Valley), and Alyssa Roth (Clinton, IA/Northeast) each totaled 12 points on the night. Freshman Claudia Morente (Girona, Spain/Institut Juame Vicens Vives) added seven points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the loss.

The Blue Devils, the defending NJCAA Division II national champions, got off to a strong start with an early 16 point advantage. MCC trailed 26-9 after the first quarter and fell behind 46-24 at halftime. MCC put together its most effective quarter in the final frame, scoring 21 points led by 11 from Kavanh that led to her career-high.

The Tigers were outrebounded for just the second time this year as KCKCC earned a 43-27 edge.

MCC continues its home-stand with a 5:00 PM matchup against Ellsworth Community College at 5:00 PM on Nov. 22.
