Women's basketball rolls past Little Priest 77-45

Winnenbago, NE—The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team handled Little Priest Tribal College with ease on Wednesday night, dropping the Warriors 77-45 on the road. Estelle Eduardo (Villeurbanne, France/Lycee Ernest Couteaux) racked up 23 points in the win.

Eduardo was one of three Tigers to reach the double-figure scoring column, reaching the plateau for the fourth-straight game and her third 20-point effort of the season. Fellow freshman Alyssa Roth (Clinton, IA/Northeast) posted 17 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Claudia Morente (Girona, Spain/Institut Juame Vicens Vives) added 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The Tigers controlled the game from start to finish after outscoring the Warriors 21-7 in the opening frame. MCC took a 41-25 lead into halftime and ran away with the game after limiting Little Priest to another seven point output in the third quarter.

The 32-point victory is the second-largest win of the season for MCC. The Tigers defeated William Penn JV by 33 points on Nov. 18.

Freshman Sarah Kavanh (Marengo, IA/Iowa Valley) came off of the bench to connect on three three-point shots on six attempts. Kiana Weston (Skokie, IL/Niles North) added six rebounds while Loralei Siliga (Euless, TX/San Leandro) chipped in eight points.

MCC opens up Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play at home against Iowa Western Community College on Saturday night as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
