Oskaloosa, IA—Loralei Siliga (Euless, TX/San Leandro) scored 18 points and added seven rebounds as the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team took down William Penn JV on the road Wednesday night, winning 62-60. MCC improved its record to 10-12 on the year.
Freshmen Claudia Morente (Girona, Spain/Institut Juame Vicens Vives) and Alyssa Roth (Clinton, TX/Northeast) joined Siliga in double-figures, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively. Estelle Eduardo (Villeurbanne, France/Lycee Ernest Couteaux) pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds.
The Tigers jumped out to a 23-18 lead after the first quarter and led by seven, 42-35 at halftime. A close third quarter kept William Penn JV, but MCC held on for the victory in the final frame.
The 10 wins for the Tigers more than double the 2015-16 team's total of four games.
MCC takes to the road for a Feb. 8 matchup at Des Moines Area Community College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
