Tigers Defeat Warriors 67-57

The MCC women's basketball team hosted the 0-2 Warriors of Little Priest Tribal College. The Tigers came into the contest 1-1 after defeating Spartans of Southwestern earlier in the week. The Tigers would end up playing their best game so far this season as they walked away with a 67-57 victory.

Three Tiger sophomores in Alyssa Roth, Claudia Morente and Loralei Siliga would dominate the night. Alyssa Roth had a big game going 7-13 from the field and making 11 of her 15 free throws for 25 points. Sophomores Claudia Morente and Loralei Siliga also had productive nights for the Tigers with Morente dropping 10 points while Siliga would score 16 and grab 10 rebounds.

"We stayed solid on the defensive end in the first half which gave us a comfortable lead going into half," stated Head Coach Steve Garber. "I thought we let up and Little Priest came out and played with more aggression to score in the second half. We did not respond very well and as a result and struggled offensively in the second half. We also have to learn to adjust to officiating as our fouls tallied up too fast giving them free throw opportunities that don't need to happen."

Little Priest had two players with double digit point totals in Deja Kie-Lorenzo who scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds and Jazlynn Muniz scored 10 points while going 7-8 at the free throw line. Little Priest Tribal College will stay in Marshalltown Thursday night as they play Friday in the Student Activity Center against Jefferson College. Saturday afternoon the Tigers will be back in action when they take on Jefferson College at 5:00 in the Student Activity Center. Saturday's game will be streamed live with links posted on the MCC Athletics website and posted on the athletics Facebook and Twitter.
