Tigers go to Overtime to Pick Up Victory

The MCC women's basketball team hosted the Ellsworth Community College Panthers Tuesday night in the Student Activity Center on the Marshalltown Community College campus. Both teams were looking to get back in the win column as the Tigers were coming off a disappointing 75-36 loss to Moberly Area Community College on Saturday while Ellsworth took a loss to Wartburg JV Sunday night. Tuesday night the Tigers would come out with a 67-60 victory over the visiting Panthers.

MCC was again led in scoring by sophomore forward Loralei Siliga who finished with a double double as she dropped 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.  Claudia Morente also had a big night, as she would record 16 points. Both teams had a difficult time scoring, as Ellsworth would go 31% from the field while Marshalltown would go 36% from the field.

"We showed some resilience after going down by 8 in the 4th quarter," stated Head Coach Steve Garber. "Loralie stepped up big time on consecutive possessions with 3 point plays. Claudia then stepped up and helped to extend the lead in overtime. We shot poorly as a team but came up with the win."

The MCC women's basketball team will be back in action Tuesday, November 28 when they travel to Boone Iowa to take on the 5-2 Bears. The DMACC women's basketball team is 5-2 on the season after going 1-1 here in Marshalltown during the Emerson Classic last weekend. The Bears currently average 70 points a game. The game will be streamed live on dmaccbears.com with links posted on the MCC Athletics Facebook and Twitter.
