Tigers Fall to 4-5

The MCC women's basketball team traveled to Boone, Iowa to take on the Bears of Des Moines Area Community College Tuesday night. The Tigers were coming off an overtime victory over Ellsworth Community College that saw Loralei Siliga score 31 points and moved the Tigers to 4-4 on the season. The Bears entered the contest 7-2 and riding a 3 game win streak. The streak would move to four as the Bears would defeat the Tigers 76-42.

The Tigers would struggle on offense and have a hard time defending DMACC's efficient three point shooters. Loralei Siliga would have a good showing for the Tigers scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while going 8-18 from the field and 2-5 from the free throw line. The Tigers could not get shots to drop early in the game as they trailed at the end of the first quarter 25-9. The second quarter saw only six points scored for the Tigers before the Bears would pull away in the third quarter scoring 15 points and finishing the fourth quarter will 22 points.

"We didn't play our best basketball tonight," stated Head Coach Steve Garber after the game. "We are better than that performance and we will have to get back to work and get better to make sure we don't play like that again."

The women's basketball team will be back in action Thursday (11/30) when they travel to Moline, Illinois when they take on the Braves of Black Hawk College. The Braves are currently 2-5 on the season while averaging 53 points per game. The game will be streamed live with links posted on the MCC Athletics Facebook and Twitter.
